What is a Drop-In Work Space?

Updated: Dec 19, 2022

Simply stated, it’s exactly that: a workspace that you just show up and use. We offer several types of drop-in workspaces at our Frontage Road location, including open desks, enclosed cubicles, phone pods, and casual lobby and lounge seating, all available without a reservation on a first-come, first-served basis.

  • First up, our Open Desk space. When you think of coworking, this is the mental image you have. The desk occupies is a quarter-section in our open desk area, with its own dimmable work lamp, copious electric outlets, two USB plugs, and four-way adjustable rolling chair. This workspace is for the extrovert who loves to be in the middle of things. While our space would never be described as rowdy, these spaces are close to the main door, adjacent to the printer table, and at the convergence of the main hallway and private offices. If you like buzz, this spot is for you! Sitting here means you have a front row seat to all the action.

  • For the more formal type, our Enclosed Cubicle most closely resembles a traditional office setup. Located off the main path, this desk faces a wall, and is enclosed on two sides. The back wall is narrow and features a window to allow more natural light while blocking both extra noise and prying eyes. Here, you’ll have your own power bank with plenty of plugs for electricity and USB charging. Choose this spot if you value privacy.

  • Our Hot Desk is on the end of a row of cubicles, next to a south-facing window, and close to the Phone Pods. If you like plants and sun, this is where you need to sit. Your work surface is large and bordered on three sides by gray fabric cube walls. Power is on the wall to your right. You’ll be sitting in an adjustable-height black leather executive chair. Tres chic!

  • Lastly, let’s talk about our Phone Pods. These are the ultimate cozy spot from which to do your recurring podcast guest appearance, video meeting, conference call, or vlog with zero photobombs or distractions. You’ll have power outlets in here, your own air vent, a small dry-erase board and bar-height counter and stool. LPT for this spot: Remember to move around a bit, or the motion-detector will think the room is empty and kill the lights after a few minutes.
